Mangaluru, July 6, 2026: The Diocese of Mangalore organised the Annual Meeting and Training Programme for 45 School Catechism and Value Education Coordinators at the Mangala Jyothi Pastoral Centre on the theme "Synodal Approaches in Catechesis."
The resource person, Rev. Fr. Vijay Machado, Executive Secretary of the CCBI Commission for Faith Formation, presented sessions on contemporary catechetical methodology, synodal approaches, and the pastoral insights of Pope Leo's encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, encouraging the participants to embrace a renewed vision of catechetical ministry.
Rev. Fr. Rohith D'Costa, Director of the Diocesan Commission for Faith Formation, reviewed the previous year's catechetical activities, presented the evaluation report, and outlined the guidelines and action plan for the catechism year 2026–2027.
The programme featured interactive discussions and group activities that fostered collaboration among the coordinators while reinforcing the Diocese's commitment to the Head, Heart, and Hand model of faith formation. Participants appreciated the enriching sessions and expressed their renewed commitment to the mission of catechesis.
